Apple just posted a guided tour for the new iPhone 3G. In the video, our old friend Bob from the original iPhone walkthrough covers "What's new in the iPhone 3G" and the iPhone 2.0 software update.
The iPhone 3G isn't due out until July 11th, but it looks like Apple is, once again, trying to start up the hype train. You can watch the video by heading over to Apple's iPhone website.

Our source within Optus revealed that it will offer a $100 per month pre paid cap plan that includes you $800 worth of calls, $100 worth of Optus 'My Time' calls, and, wait for it, a hefty 1GB of data transfers. Data costs are a huge part of the overall cost of using an iPhone so this component can have a big impact on your overall bill. It's good to see that Optus is being reasonable here. On the downside, it appears that Optus iPhones will be locked to the network, and it will cost you around $60 to $80 to unlock it.

Update (3:23pm Wednesday 2/07): Apple has released a press release regarding the Telstra announcement
[1] Telstra has purchased the number 1800 IPHONE (1800 474 663) for $9000 - Most likely using this channel for sales and support for the iPhone.
[2] Price Plans:
$30 per month plan
8GB - $279 upfront = $279 + ($30 x 24) = $999
16GB - $399 upfront = $399 + ($30 x 24) = $1119
$0 upfront plan
8GB - $80 per month = $1920
16GB - $100 per month = $2400
Obviously with a $80/$100 month plan, you get more calls, data, text etc.
[3] Telstra press release has been published on their website.
[4] The Telstra Next G Network is the largest in Australia and covers more than 99 percent of the population. It's also the fastest 3G network with peak network download speeds of 14.4Mbps (though this is an irrelevant number for iPhone 3G users as Apple has apparently capped the maximum HSDPA data speeds to 1.4Mbps.)

THE iPhone is coming to Telstra's Next G network - and for the first time Australian consumers have found out how much the year's must-have gadget will cost.
After months of speculation, Telstra today announced it had reached an agreement with Apple and would sell the iPhone when it goes on sale on July 11.
Telstra - which says its Next G mobile phone network is the fastest in the nation - will join Vodafone and Optus in selling the iPhone.
"We're thrilled to work with Telstra to bring iPhone 3G to Australia's largest 3G network," said Tim Cook, Apple's COO. "iPhone 3G is an amazing product and we think Telstra's over 9 million mobile customers will love it as much as we do."
The Next G iPhone 3G plans start at $30 per month with an upfront cost of $279 for the 8GB model and $399 for the 16GB model.
Pricing for the 8GB model in the United States is US$199. The additional price Australians will pay is typical of pricing creep for imported electronics goods.
Customers will receive the 8GB iPhone 3G model at no cost with the $80 plan and either the 8GB or the 16GB model at no cost with plans starting at $100 per month. All plans include free Wi-Fi access at Telstra hotspots and require a 24-month contract.
