Die-hard Apple fans are staking their place in the queue for Thursday's opening of the computer giant's Sydney store.
Armed with sleeping bags, thermos flasks and laptops, most of those in line on Wednesday were Apple enthusiasts who have attended dozens of store openings worldwide.
Mike Kaufmann, a retired US airline pilot from Santa Cruz, California, joked he lined up to make sure he gets one of the T-shirts Apple will hand out to the first 2,500 customers.
"I came to get a T-shirt!" he told AAP.
"It's something that's just grown into kind of a cult thing. We go all over the place."
The George Street store, which will open its doors at 5pm (AEST) Thursday, is Apple's first Australian retail outlet.
Details about the opening were being kept a closely guarded secret, although there were rumours Apple CEO Steve Jobs will make an appearance.
