I\'m under 18, so I needed a parent to sign for the contract and as both were working today, I thought my chances of getting an ihpone were pretty bad.

But I thought I\'d try my luck and when i woke up this arvo at about 1:30 (its holidays), i decided to call telstra at marion to see whether they had any left. They said they had heaps left and were really helpful!

So my mum took me to marion when she finished work at about 5:00 pm and we were in and out of the telstra store within about 15 minutes! They\'re registering system was down, so I couldnt take the iphone home with me, but it will be ready by either tomorrow or sunday.

Overall I\'m really really happy! Although, telstra\'s plan is no where near as good as optus\', i\'m hoping their customer service, wifi and 3g coverage will make up for it.

My alarm was supposed to go off at 4:30am, slept right through it. Woke up at 8am in a panic thinking i wasn't going to get one, went into the city (Sydney) anyway to make sure. The line at the Apple store was HUUUGE! I giggled a bit and went to Vodafone on Pitt St where they had some but not the 16gb in black, but they were getting more after midday when a delivery comes in, so i gave them my number. Strolled by close to midday and checked if there were any. There were, and now it's mine. It took about an hour to get me through the system & get a credit check but that was fine, i just sat there drooling over my soon-to-be iphone.

Very very happy customer! :D

I don't think people knew that Pitt St had stock because George St Vodafone was chockers at the same time and had full waiting lists for both the black and white 16gb phone. Crazy!

Must say though, took me forever to figure out how to get my simcard inside! Strange place to put the sim ejector tool in the box, i could hardly see it. Crisis over now, finally found it.

I went to Optus at Eastland - waited in a short line that kept getting asked by the Optus staff if we were there for the iphone - which we were.

When I finally got in and sat down with the sales assistant that's when she told me that they had no 16GB iphones in stock and that it would be 1-4 weeks before they had stock again. I was a little peeved that I had not been told that half-an-hour ago in line.

So, when I left, I made sure that I told the line (which was growing again) that there were no 16GB iPhones in store. As I walked off I could hear the staff member apologizing to a few angry folk.

I am the Michael's who's pic's of brisbane are posted on the page at the moment, I was in the first pack of 6 people that they let in to the store "Voda". It was an amazing experience. I wish their was that much fan fair every time I got a new phone, or apple product for that matter.

I got the Black in 16gb, Very Very happy with what I got, Well worth braving the cold at 3 am. The team at Vode put in a lot of effort to make it special. I left the store 30 min later with my new Iphone, 2 x Red "iPhone 3G - The iPhone you've been waiting for" t-shirts. I how ever are still waiting for my phone service to port from Telstra.

Vodafone Perth, got there at 9am, was told that as an existing customer the Upgrade system was down and I needed to come back later, but couldn't pay for phone on the spot. Told to call Store at regular intervals. Phoned store 5 minutes later to find out upgrade system was now working. Went back to to the store, started upgrade application, and was then told that the there were no more 16Gb Black iPhones.

Registered with the store about three weeks ago and received an email last night to say that they would be opening at 9am and yet when I spoke to an attendant they had already been open since 7am. As an existing customer I felt cheated that I had been given the wrong information and the run around. They seem to be focusing on new customers only. :(

Got to Eastland, Ringwood VIC at 4:45am (I know) despite being horribly ill with the flu, and waited around in the car until about 6:30am when they let people into the shopping centre. There was only about 20 of us there, mostly deposit holders but some non-deposit holders. Optus World staff came out and told us to make sure we had everything, (receipt, id, etc) and he also made us aware that they only had a certain number of 16gb, and only 2 prepaid iphones. I thought that was really good to let everyone know right off the bat.
Mum & I were second in line, and we were let in just after 7am. Guy who served us was lovely and the upgrade was painless. They even gave us apples (ha) and water while we were waiting.
The activation process was crap, I think the whole computer system died and my sim card still isn't working. But I have now got a lovely white 16gb iphone. And now I'm going back to bed because I'm still sick lol

At about 7:45am, I arrived at Optus in Perth, which was due to open at 8am, only to be confronted by a massive queue -- close to a hundred people. Across the mall, vodafone was already open -- and there was no queue and no one going over. The vf marketeers were even coming over to the Optus line trying to convince people to go over to vf so that they didn't have to wait. What a joke.

The queue took forever but at about 10:40, I finally got into the store and got the very last 16GB black. The sale took over half an hour, though, and I was told at least 4 hours for porting from 3.

Still, I'm very happy to have the 16GB black. I would've just waited for the next shipment if there were only white or 8GB left.

I went to a smaller Crazy Johns in my town at lunch just now, obviously they have Voda plans. The nice girl siad they had 4 units (16GB blacks) and she refused to sell any to anyone because of the poor deals on offer! So she's basically flogging every other phone in the store other than the iPhone haha!

Optus world in Epping Vic ran out of all iPhones in a few minutes. They only had 19 to sell. Have to wait at least a week. They should have told people there would be shortages in store, but what the hell, let people stand in a que in the cold. :( Just a note, there is no visual voicemail on iPhone available in Australia.....yet. Watch that one. :x

Went to Optus Bendigo at 8.50, got my 8Gb black iphone on $49 cap by 11.00. Bonus. Only 4 left by then, and there were about 3 in line. Drove by at 7.15, there were about 10 in line, and the doors closed. Apparently there were about 30 phones for the whole of Bendigo (100,000+ people). Vodaphone Bendigo is getting there phones in Monday. I went there at 8.45, and no line, but the guy opened the door and told me that they had a shipping mix up (could you believe it) even though I called yesterday and they said they would be selling today (Friday). Anyway, I am happy, as Optus plans are cheaper by $20 per month, and no up front charge. Data plans suck though (250 mb per month). How do they get away with this?? Apparently Canada people got a petition going, and Rogers has given them a better deal on data (10 Gb). So I think Australia should do the same - Apple said that they wouldn't be selling iphones in Canada, and Rogers relented.

Decided my chances of getting one with Optus as a non-deposit holder was not that great (especially considering my local said they were holding them for 24 hours), so I headed to Optus World in Rhodes as I knew they were selling them to everyone at 9am, arrived at 8am was met with about 20 people in a que, waited till about 10 to 9 when I joined in a conversation with one of the Optus guys who said that they didn't have enough for all the deposit holders and only had three 8GB models left.

Headed to my local store and waited in a short and put one on raincheck and signed a 24 month contract for the $59 cap, they're saying hopefully one week, but I'm going to expect up to three.
The service at my local was better than I expected, and hopefully I'll have my 16GB in a week!

Got to Marion Optus World at 6.30am to a queue of only 10 people - all receipt holders except these two teenagers. Store opened a minute or two after 7 and processed everyone 3 at a time. The actual signing up process was fairly quick but then trouble struck. The activation/porting process (from 3) - failed, stopped, slowed down, screwed up - meant that I had to walk out of there with a promise that they'd call me as soon as it was ready. A follow up call at 12noon revealed that the problem was not solved and I would still have to wait. I'm HOPING I can get it today.

I was, you could say, just a tad envious of the current Optus customers who very nearly skipped out of the store with their phone in hand. :?

Got to sunnybank optus in brisbane at about 5.30 and was 4th in line. Doors opened at 7 and we were in there signing up for about half an hour. They asked us to come back at about 9.00. Came back and they said it will take a little longer because of activation server problems.. 4 hours later I have my black 16gb!!

Went into the store, cranked some hardcore music and openned up the pit. When the pit was to my satisfaction I ripped a few windmills and kicks out

Woke Up at 5:30 for to be down at Optus Macarthur Square at 6:15.

Everyone (even non deposit holders) were able to buy iPhone at 7:00. 3 people in the store at a time, 1 hour per person, after first group had gone in, staff stated that they had 35 iPhones, 4 of which were 16gb and only one was black. (Come on who really wants an 8gb iPhone)

Staff were useless and had no idea what was happening.

At that point I went down to Allphones, who didnt have any phones, and didnt know how many they would be getting. They also wouldnt sell any prepaid phones. I ordered a 16gb prepaid and they r going to call me when it comes in nd are able to sell it. (If I'm buying an Optus phone why wouldnt they sell me a prepaid like Optus said they would???)

Overall Not happy
