Check the iPhone price and plans
Different plans, different prices, different target markets. Do your research before you purchase. Are you a heavy caller and texter? Do you plan to use it for tethering? Do you like free calls after 7PM? More research will mean you will get the best deal in the long run. Mobile phone carriers purposely don't share the same price point plans so direct comparison is difficult. Also, ensure the main location where you will be using your iPhone has good coverage. If you plan to buy it outright, the Apple Store is definitely the best idea - unlocked and the cheapest price compared to all carriers.
Is the iPhone unlocked
?
At the moment, only buying from Apple direct (either in-store or online) will mean you get an unlocked iPhone which will allow you to use on any carrier anywhere around the world. Purchasing outright from any carrier means it will be locked and will cost to be unlocked. Also, if you buy from Apple outright, make sure the box has a white circular sticker on it. If not, the iPhone will be locked to a carrier
Don't turn up empty handed!
And we're not just talking about the moolah. If you plan to rock up to an Apple Store, bring a credit card (cash is not accepted). If you plan to sign up with a carrier on a contract, bring identification which will make up 100 points of ID. One ID must include your photograph and signature. One ID must include your current billing address. Billing statements used as identification must be your most recent post hardcopy.
Save yourself time!
Now you can book a Personal Shopping appointment at the Apple Store when it's convenient for you. A Specialist will be waiting for you when you arrive. Also, check if your store has availability the night before on the Apple website or check our homepage.
Consider iPhone 3GS accessories!
Will you need a screen protector? Or a crystal case? Or perhaps a FM transmitter? Check out the Apple Store for a good range of accessories as well as online. Note that if you use a screen protector, you can't take advantage of the oleophobic coating.
