iPhone in Canada: Looks like the folks at Cupertino are at it again with their firmware updates. iPhone firmware version 2.0.2 was released a couple hours ago and can now be downloaded via iTunes or straight from Apple’s servers.
It’s funny how the firmware update is released just as I happened to jailbreak my iPhone 3G on the weekend. Anyways this release fixes some “minor bugs”, which essentially means that there are no new features but might make your iPhone run a bit more smoothly. Plug in your iPhone 3G into iTunes and update away!
As for the jailbroken crowd, expect the WinPwn/Pwnage Tool to be updated fairly soon! I am not going to update just yet because I will lose my jailbreak status. I am happy with the phone at the moment but I would like to update as well. There has been debates about whether or not jailbroken phones can one-click update. I’m sure you can and once WinPwn is updated I just might do that to test it out!

It seems that Optus no longer offers pre-paid iPhones. Their recent website changes reveals that the information that used to advertise pre-paid is no longer available. Is this because Three customers are unlocking their Optus iPhones?
Hayden also tipped us and said "my friend went to a store and was told that prepaid had been dropped." Your thoughts?

Hurry and rush over to the App Store! Simplify Media is giving away their app free to the first 100,000 people to download it. Really, I mean it. This one is worth the download.
If you recall, we talked about how in the future, Apple may incorporate remote streaming into the iPhone since they'd obtained a patent for the feature. But you can get a taste of that sort of functionality now for free (if you're quick). Simplify Media lets you stream your music library right onto your iPhone. Plus, you can stream the libraries of up to 30 friends and view album art and lyrics while on the go.
Once you've downloaded the app, you just have to create an account with Simplify Media. Before you know it, you'll be streaming media like it were old hat. Now go do it quick before everyone else does!

SMH: iPhone 3G users in Australia and around the world are suffering from slow internet speeds and poor reception because of a flaw in the device that may have been fixed if not for Apple's immense culture of secrecy.
A source at an Australian telco who did not wish to be named said Apple - paranoid about keeping the device under wraps - only provided the iPhone 3G to carriers the day before it went to market, leaving them with no time to test it thoroughly on their networks.
Users in Australia, Europe and the US have flooded online forums - including Apple's own discussion boards - with complaints of poor reception, slow internet speeds and dropped calls.
The poor reception - often displayed as one bar - and slow speeds are occurring in areas of good coverage and do not seem to affect other phones.

iPhone Buzz: In case you ever wondered how iPhone 3G sales have been distributed across the globe, a recent study conducted by Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research shows just where the first million went.

As expected, the U.S., Japan, Germany and France topped the curve, taking in a cumulative 81% of the first million 3G iPhones sold. But this isn't really news.
What is interesting, however, is the dispersal of carriers. And though AT&T tops the list with 600,000 units sold, T-Mobile sold 89,000, Orange sold 77,000 and Softbank Mobile sold 70,000 in the overseas market.
Even though the iPhone is a U.S. dominated product at the moment, it still has a large resonance overseas. This data reflects only the first three days of sales, so it may be affected by the initial troubles people had registering.
