Apple Sells 1 Million iPhones But Only A Few In Australia PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 15 July 2008
SmartHouse: Apple today announced it sold its one millionth iPhone 3G on Sunday, just three days after its launch on Friday, 11 July. iPhone 3G is now available in 21 countries including Australia. However stock limitations resulted in only 80,000 going on sale in Australia.

The official Apple statement said "iPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "It took 74 days to sell the first one million original iPhones, so the new iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world."

The new iPhone 3G combines all the revolutionary features of iPhone plus 3G networking, built-in GPS for expanded location-based mobile services, and iPhone 2.0 software which includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs over 800 third party applications available through the new App Store.

Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital media revolution with its iPod portable music and video players and iTunes online store, and has entered the mobile phone market with its revolutionary iPhone.

iPhone 3G screens made "warmer" PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 14 July 2008
From TUAW: The great 320 x 480 screen was among the things that didn't change with the 3G iPhone, or so we thought. Some of the lucky folks who managed to snag a 3G iPhone have noticed that the screen on the new model seems to be slightly yellowish compared to the original iPhone. Now Engadget is reporting that this is intentional. According to an Apple marketer "the screen's color temperature has been purposely altered on the new iPhone to produce warmer, more natural tones, sharper images, and deeper blacks."

Apparently the iPhone engineers decided that the first generation iPhone screen was "colder and less defined" and so made the change. So for those of you out there that have upgraded: what do you think? Is the new screen better?

iTunes 7.7 is up for download PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 10 July 2008
Update @ 10:43pm: Download new iTunes, click on Applications, look in the bottom right and click "Get more applications" - access to App Store :) Thanks James!

Those of you purchasing an iPhone on Friday may want to go ahead and get your iTunes up to date. Apple just released the iTunes 7.7 for download. Strangely enough, their download page has listed the current version as 7.7 for an hour or two, though the link only gave you 7.6. iTunes updater still thinks that my version 7.6.2 is up-to-date as well.
