Customers hoping to check out the new iPhone 3GS have been turned away from Apple's flagship Sydney store unless they promise to buy one.
Staff met customers as they reached the doors of the store today and said it was only open to people who were going to purchase an iPhone.
"The store is closed for browsers today. Are you buying pre-paid or plan?" customers were asked.
The store opened at 8am today after carrier Optus launched the iPhone 3GS handset at midnight. There was a small queue of fans outside through the day.
"How am I supposed to know if I want to buy one if I don't know for sure how much it costs?" one potential buyer said, after being stopped at the door of the George Street shop.
